Sealing ring, radon seal

W802

Skelda W802 EPDM rubber embedding ring for water and/or radon sealing when embedding round pipes in concrete floors and walls.
W802

Radon and water sealing W802

Used for embedding pipes or cables with outer diameter from 16mm upwards. Seals against groundwater (up to 4m water column) and against soil radon gas.

  1. Tested by RISE - gas tightness
  2. Tested by the German District Heating Institute and Studsvik Energiteknik - tightness against liquids up to 0.4 bar (0.1 bar at ± 5 mm axial movement)
  3. EPDM rubber - stainless steel hose clamp AISI 304
  4. Complies with standard EN 681-1 Sealing rings - Material requirements for sealing rings for water and drainage applications
  5. Small footprint - allows for tight pipe/cable placement
  6. A hose clamp minimizes installation time
  7. Sizes for pipes and cables with Dy 16 mm and up
  8. Special sizes on request (from 200 mm and up)

Examples of uses

  • Against groundwater - ground radon around pipes and cables
  • Wells for circulation in cast-in-place basins
  • Systems for waste collection
  • Corrected (flex pipes) through concrete to pumping stations, service chambers, etc.
  • Plastic and concrete wells
  • District heating pipes

Assembly instructions

  1. Fit the sealing ring and hose clamp to the pipe.
  2. Tighten all hose clamps so that the ring cannot move axially or radially on the pipe and so that good contact is achieved between the pipe and the rubber ring around the entire circumference of the pipe. The effective sealing quality of the W802 depends in part on the ability of the hose clamp to hold the ring close to the pipe during the concreting process.
  3. Make sure that the ring is completely covered by concrete. This is especially true where a pipe is angled in a concrete floor, e.g. radon sealing of drains. In such cases, it would be better to mount the ring on the drain itself.
  4. Vibrate the concrete so that it makes a good connection to the rubber ring. Contact us for alternative mounting suggestions.

The W802 embedding ring is normally slightly smaller in diameter than the pipe in question (2 - 8% depending on the pipe diameter). If the seal needs to be pushed along the pipe, a lubricant can be used or the ring can be "rolled" along the pipe. We can supply lubricant. If a hole is drilled in a concrete wall in preparation for casting a pipe/sealing ring, we recommend the following minimum drill hole:

TUBE DIMENSION HOLDING DIMENSION
16 - 32 Pipe dim. + 80 mm
40 - 180 Pipe dim. + 100 mm
≥200 Pipe dim. + 120 mm

Frequently asked questions about sealings

It is important to note that the sealings are not intended to act as supports. The pipes must be supported on both sides of the seal.

W801, W803 and W804 are all tested for generous axial movements.

Many of our sealings protect against both radon and water. You can see from the labels on the products which ones protect against what.

Here is a link to all the data sheets we have: Data sheets

We have sealings in stock with a diameter of up to 1000 mm. We have the ability to build custom sealings and have supplied sealings up to 2000 mm diameter, but there are no limits to how large sealings we can make.

It is possible to install W802 on corrugated pipes provided that it lies on one or more of the tops of the pipe. Should there be very wide gaps on large pipes, it may be necessary to seal the gap in the corrugation before installing the seal.

W802 is included in the House Product Portal and is therefore approved for Nordic Swan Ecolabel projects. These types of sealings cannot be Nordic Swan Ecolabeled and this also applies to competitors' products. But if they are included in the House Product Portal, it works.

W801, W802, Link Seal, Compact and Nofirno are all approved radon sealings.
