Sealing ring, water sealing

W801

Used when embedding pipes with outer diameter >110mm, where risk of water leakage may occur and where the pipe is expected to move axially. Also seals against soil radon gas. The seal is adjustable after casting and can be mounted on both the inside and outside of the concrete wall.

Water and radon seal W801

  • Tested by the German District Heating Institute and Studsvik Energiteknik - tightness against liquids with sand admixture, up to 0.74 bar (0.1 bar at ± 100 mm axial movement)
  • EPDM rubber - AISI 304 stainless steel hose clamp - hot dip galvanized steel clamps
  • Self-lubricating - to minimize friction between the jacket and sealing
  • Complies with standard EN 681-1 Sealing rings - Material requirements for sealing rings for water and drainage applications
  • For pipes in standard dimensions from Dy 110 mm and up
  • Customized sizes on request

Examples of uses

  • District heating pipes
  • District cooling pipelines
  • Stormwater system
  • Industrial wiring

Assembly instructions

  1. Make round holes in one mold wall for the hose clamp flange of the pipe and grease groove seal. Make the hole in the other mold wall slightly larger than the outer diameter of the jacket pipe.
  2. Fit both rubber rings on the pipe. Turn the grease groove seal and fill the grease groove with the supplied lubricant. Twist the ring back and fit both rubber rings next to each other. Press the rings against the mold wall (the hose clamp flange of the larger rubber ring should pass through the mold wall) and tighten the hose clamps so that good contact is made with the pipe.
  3. If the pipe is to be subjected to axial movement, the part of the pipe not occupied by the rubber rings must be protected with some kind of spacer material, e.g. tar paper. This is to avoid direct concrete casting against the casing pipe.
  4. Reinforce and pour the concrete wall. Vibrate the concrete so that a good connection is obtained with the rubber rings.
  5. After demoulding, drill holes in the concrete wall for the clamping claw expander bolts. Use a clamping claw as a template. Place the end clamps max. 50 mm from the open end of the clamping ring. Distribute the remaining clamps evenly around the pipe.
  6. Fit the tensioning and clamping claws. Adjust the clamping ring so that it only presses against the rubber ring and not against the concrete wall. Tighten the clamps so that the grease groove seal is pressed against the concrete wall. Check that the outer hose clamp is tightened.

Frequently asked questions about sealings

It is important to note that the sealings are not intended to act as supports. The pipes must be supported on both sides of the seal.

W801, W803 and W804 are all tested for generous axial movements.

Many of our sealings protect against both radon and water. You can see from the labels on the products which ones protect against what.

Here is a link to all the data sheets we have: Data sheets

We have sealings in stock with a diameter of up to 1000 mm. We have the ability to build custom sealings and have supplied sealings up to 2000 mm diameter, but there are no limits to how large sealings we can make.

It is possible to install W802 on corrugated pipes provided that it lies on one or more of the tops of the pipe. Should there be very wide gaps on large pipes, it may be necessary to seal the gap in the corrugation before installing the seal.

W802 is included in the House Product Portal and is therefore approved for Nordic Swan Ecolabel projects. These types of sealings cannot be Nordic Swan Ecolabeled and this also applies to competitors' products. But if they are included in the House Product Portal, it works.

W801, W802, Link Seal, Compact and Nofirno are all approved radon sealings.
